New Berlin Council Seat Available – Councilperson Wanted

New Berlin Borough Council Person Needed –

The Borough Council is hereby authorized to appoint a Borough Council Person as it is required by the Borough Code “the council shall fill a vacancy within 30 days by appointing, by resolution, a registered elector of the borough ….. to hold the office until the first Monday in January after the first municipal election occurring more than 60 days after the vacancy occurs, at which election an eligible individual shall be elected to the office for the remainder of the term.”

The appointed person is required to be a resident of the New Berlin Borough for at least one year.

Payment for services rendered by the appointed Borough Council Person is affixed by Council at $300.00 per year.

The Borough Council Person shall be required to meet once a month as required by 8 Pa.C.S.A. § 1006 and the first Monday in January following an election year as required by 8 Pa.C.S.A. §1001.

Disaster Relief Information – Tropical Storm Debbie

Information regarding Tropical Storm Debby disaster relief:

The Union County Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) opened yesterday at the Union County Resource Center located at 480 Hafer Road Lewisburg, PA 17837, with the hours of operation being

8AM-6PM Monday through Sunday – *regular operation hours for all DRC’s starting 9/23/24.

DRC’s are accessible offices that people can visit to learn about and apply for FEMA and other disaster assistance programs. The staff there will help address questions or concerns that you may have about the disaster that was declared in response to Tropical Storm Debby.
